WEST MIFFLIN, Pa.; February 10, 2025 — The West Mifflin Area High School Boys Basketball team has earned the No. 12 seed in the WPIAL Class 4A Tournament and will face Knoch in the first round. The teams are meeting for the second time in three years in the WPIAL playoffs.
The contest at Knoch is set for Friday, February 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 (adults) and $5 (students) and can be purchased in advance at www.gofan.co/WPIAL. All tickets are $7 at the gate. The winner of the West Mifflin-Knoch game will travel to No. 4 seed Avonworth on Wednesday, February 19 (time TBA).
Under the direction of first-year head coach Dr. Hal Minford, the Titans were 7-5 in Section play this season, good for fourth place in Class 4A, Section 3. West Mifflin has won five of its last six games heading into tonight’s regular season finale vs. Penn Hills, which is a 7:30 p.m. tip.
Knoch finished in second place in 4A, Section 1 and the Knights have a 16-6 record.
West Mifflin is returning to the WPIAL Boys Basketball playoffs for the first time since 2023, when the Titans defeated Knoch in a 4A play-in game and lost to No. 1 Lincoln Park in the first round.
The WPIAL Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament championship games will be played February 27-March 1 at the Petersen Events Center on the University of Pittsburgh campus.
