Titan Safety 365: A one-stop shop safety platform

On April 26, the West Mifflin Area School District’s Police Chief, Bob Boyle, announced the district’s new, one stop shop safety platform, Titan Safety 365, conveniently located on the district’s website.

“Titan Safety 365 is a modern, centralized platform for managing safety, emergency management and wellbeing within the West Mifflin Area School District,” said Chief Boyle. “It brings everything into a one-stop shop, as it pertains to safety and wellbeing within the district. Teachers, parents and students can all access this information on an as-needed basis.”

Titan Safety 365 features a plethora of information on the district’s safety resources and procedures. Among the resources highlighted are Bark for Schools, Blue Point, Halo Smart Sensors, PA Childline, Raptor Technologies, Safe 2 Say, and Standard Response Protocol.

All of these resources are instrumental in creating a safe, nurturing learning environment throughout the district, though Chief Boyle was proud to note the Standard Response Protocol, which supplies action-based responses to a vast number of safety situations.

Beyond Standard Response Protocol, Chief Boyle noted how Halo Smart Sensors have been key in cutting down vaping the school, while Bark for Schools is a unique resource that allows staff to be notified when students use an alarming word on a school device, which might preempt a safety issue. Safe2Say is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General that teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others. It’s one of the many resources in place meant to protect the mental health of district students.

“We want everyone to be aware of what we have at West Mifflin, and how to use those resources if they need to use them,” said Chief Boyle.

“Parents want to feel comfortable when they send their kids to school. They want to know things are in place, things are being practiced and that the school district is taking measures to create that safe environment so that kids can come here and learn. A lot of these things that we have here at the West Mifflin School District are top of the line, as far as school safety goes.”
